Yuri Berestov's art project "Hand of an Artist"

On December 20,  in the Moscow Manege Yuri Berestov presented his exclusive art object in the form of a hand, which then was installed at the entrance of the exhibition "VIVA LA VIDA. FRIDA KAHLO AND DIEGO RIVERA. Paintings and drawings from Museum and private collections" (from December to February 22). "Hand of an Artist" is a free reflection on the works of Mexican artists Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera. At the core of the concept is the generalised image of a hand, which serves as both - a guide to the world of the artist's works, the main instrument to transmit their vision and creativity, and their tool to influence the world around them. The art object "Hand of an Artist" made of fiberglass is 3.6 meter high.

The graphics and colors of the art object reflect the emotions and expressive manner  of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera in different periods of life. The palm of the installation "Hand of an Artist" opened towards the guests represents benevolence and straightforwardness, but at the same time the complete nakedness of the artists' feelings in front of the visitors. "Hand of an Artist" is the first thing visitors see at the entrance to the Moscow Manege. With a movement barely perceptible, Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera extend their hand to everyone and welcome them to the exhibition.

The composition "Hand of an Artist" is the second exclusive art project by Yuri Berestov. In June 2018, a "Giant Like" dedicated to the 200th anniversary of Grozny was created. The sculpture "Like" traveled more than 3 000 kilometres (it took it 3 weeks) from St. Petersburg to Grozny through Moscow, Voronezh, Rostov-on-Don, Krasnodar. The Giant Like was the first art object to cross the newly built Crimean Bridge. The final destination of "The Giant Like" was King Abdullah II bin al-Hussein Memorial Park in Grozny.
